The Relic Project Catalogues Its 1000th Relic…and Counting! Join Us!
The Relic Project reached a monumental milestone on July 14, 2026 —1,000 relics have now been catalogued!
The exciting 1,000th entry was a simple theca housing a second-class relic of the Blessed Virgin Mary (part of her veil) and a first-class relic of her father, St. Joachim (a bone) from Our Lady of Walsingham Basilica, UK. We are deeply grateful to God for this achievement and also to our dedicated “global curator” volunteers who have carefully entered relics, one by one, into our database.

Our Mission
The Relic Project exists to help people encounter Jesus Christ through the witness of the saints and to revive the Church’s sacred tradition of relic veneration.
A central part of this mission is building a comprehensive online map and library of first- and second-class relics located in churches, shrines, religious communities, and other sacred places around the world. Our global curators, affectionately known as “relic hunters,” research relic locations, visit sacred sites, gather photographs and historical information, and document each relic with reliable sources whenever possible.
Through education, preservation, public veneration, and responsible documentation, The Relic Project seeks to make this sacred tradition more accessible while helping ensure relics are properly understood, cared for, and honored as the Church intends.
The resulting database is searchable by saint and by location, making these treasures of the Church more accessible for education, veneration, and evangelization. By sharing these blessings, we pray that Catholics and all who are curious will grow deeper in faith.

On hearing the news, our founder, Anthony Di Mauro, said,
“We are only getting started. There are countless relics of the saints waiting to be rediscovered, documented, and shared with the faithful, but the harvest is plentiful and the laborers are few. We need people around the world who are willing to help us find these sacred treasures, preserve their stories, and make them accessible so that more people can encounter Jesus Christ through the witness of the saints."
