Bringing the Saints to Fulton Sheen’s Beatification Week
The Relic Project is honored to be traveling to St. Louis and Peoria for three historic events celebrating the life, witness, and beatification of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
Accompanied by three volunteers, we will bring more than 50 relics of the saints to St. Louis, joining Catholics from across the world for this extraordinary moment in the life of the Church.
The Fulton Sheen Conference
On Wednesday, September 23, The Relic Project will participate in the Fulton Sheen: America’s Saint Conference in St. Louis.
Held on the eve of Archbishop Sheen’s beatification, the conference will bring together Catholic leaders, speakers, ministries, and pilgrims for a full day of talks, prayer, Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and fellowship.
The Relic Project will bring more than 50 relics of the saints, creating a prayerful opportunity for attendees to encounter and venerate these sacred treasures of the Church.
At the Fulton Sheen Conference, we will be handing out, for free, custom-made veneration prayer cards made by Sam Estrada, a supporter and volunteer of our mission.
For us, this relic display is not simply an exhibit. Every relic points beyond itself to Jesus Christ and reminds us that holiness is possible. It is especially fitting to bring the saints into a gathering honoring Ven Fulton Sheen, whose entire ministry was devoted to bringing souls closer to Christ.
The Beatification of Fulton Sheen
On Thursday, September 24, our team will attend the Beatification Mass of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis.
During this historic Mass, Archbishop Sheen will officially be declared “Blessed” by the Catholic Church. Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle will preside over the celebration, which is expected to draw thousands of pilgrims.
Fulton Sheen was one of the most influential Catholic evangelists in American history. Through his preaching, writing, radio programs, and television ministry, he used the communications tools of his time to proclaim the Gospel to millions of people.
His beatification is not only a celebration of his life. It is also an invitation for the Church to rediscover his missionary zeal, his devotion to the Eucharist, his daily Holy Hour, and his conviction that every Catholic is called to become a saint.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to witness this moment in person.
The Inaugural Sheen Awards Gala
Following the beatification, The Relic Project has also been invited to attend the first-ever Sheen Awards Gala in Peoria, Illinois, on Friday, September 25.
This historic celebration will recognize individuals who are continuing Fulton Sheen’s mission through media, evangelization, missionary work, preaching, writing, music, film, television, and digital communications.
Fulton Sheen understood the importance of bringing the Gospel into the public square and using modern media to reach people wherever they were. The inaugural Sheen Awards will honor those who are carrying that same evangelistic spirit forward today.
As a ministry that uses digital media, storytelling, education, and the worldwide Map of Relics to help people encounter Christ through the saints, we are honored to participate in this celebration of faith, media, and evangelization.
Meeting Two Remarkable Members of Our Mission
This trip will also give our team the opportunity to meet Laura and John Ruberto in person.
Laura and John spent their summer traveling throughout the United States, visiting churches and shrines, documenting sacred relics, and sharing the mission of The Relic Project. Through their extraordinary work, hundreds of relics were documented and added to the Map of Relics.
Laura has also generously contributed to our blog, helping us share the stories of relics, shrines, and the saints with a wider audience.
Their work is a beautiful example of how people can use their individual gifts, travels, and experiences to serve the Church. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and participation in this mission.

Transporting more than 50 relics across the country and participating in events in both St. Louis and Peoria requires significant travel and logistical expenses.
